The GeniusRocket Primary: How It Works

There are two ways to participate in the GeniusRocket Primary: as a viewer and voter, and as a creator.

The first step for all users is simple: Create a free GeniusRocket Account. Once you've joined GeniusRocket, you can start working on a submission for any candidate or as many candidates you wish. And we'll notify you when the first submissions for the GeniusRocket Primary come in.

To participate as a creator in the GeniusRocket Primary, simply follow these steps after creating your account:

1. Choose Your Candidates

Visit the GeniusRocket Primary page and click on the Contest Information of the candidate(s) for whom you wish to create video(s).

2. Choose to Work Alone or Collaborate

After reading the Contest Information and Official Rules for the candidate you want to work on, click the Launch It button to the right of the candidate's page. From here, GeniusRocket gives you the choice to work alone or to create a Launch Team. To find other members to collaborate with on your project, post a Help Wanted Ad or search the Creator Directory.

3. Complete Your Project

We'll admit it. Some of the best fun at GeniusRocket happens offline, as you work alone or with your launch team to complete great ads and other creative projects.

4. Submit Your Project and Spread the Word

Once you've uploaded your ad(s), that's where the electioneering starts! Spread the word about your ads to your family and friends and ask them to watch and vote on your submission. Spreading the word makes a difference -- the number of votes and your overall rating from the community is taken into consideration by our judging panel when determining finalists. You must upload your submission by Friday, November 30th in order for your submission to be considered eligible for primary voting.

Once all the submissions are in, the top community vote-earners as well as submissions selected by the judging committee will face off for Primary Voting in early December. During Primary Voting, we'll ask members of the community to vote for the best ad for each candidate. The choice of the GeniusRocket community will determine the final winners.

Here's how the GeniusRocket Primary works:


  • Round One: Upload your submission(s) by Friday, November 30th and ask your friends and family to vote on your submission. Spreading the word makes a difference -- the number of votes and your overall rating from the community is taken into consideration by our judging panel when determining finalists for Round Two.
  • Round Two: Primary Voting takes place in early December. During Primary Voting, we'll ask members of the community to vote for the best ad for each candidate from among the finalists.


The choice of the GeniusRocket community will determine the final winners. (This is a democracy, after all.)
