Your Profile
How do I get a profile?
Getting a profile is easy. Just create an account here.
What can I do once I have a profile?
Once you’ve registered, you can start responding to creative assignments and viewing and creating content. Filling out your profile makes it easier for other GeniusRocket members to collaborate with you, because your basic information (user name, roles, and location) will appear in the Creator Directory.
Why was my profile deactivated?
You probably did something naughty in violation of our Terms of Service. For questions, email Support@GeniusRocket.com.
Working Alone or in a Team
How do I form a Team? Do I have to form a Team?
When you find a Current Assignment that you want to work on, just click on the “LAUNCH IT” button to the right of the project description. You can then choose to work alone or to form a Team. You can even form a Team if you haven’t picked anyone to collaborate with yet. Check the Help Wanted Ads or search our Creator Directory to start meeting other talented people.
Can I collaborate with people who aren’t GeniusRocket members?
You can work with anyone you want. Whether you are working with GeniusRocket members or other creative people, it is your responsibility to agree with your collaborators on the terms of your working relationship.
Can I leave a Team once I’m in it? Can I join a Team at any time?
Yes and yes. Just ask the person who started the Team.
I’m having trouble with someone on my team. What should I do?
You are responsible for dealing with your collaborators fairly, honestly and in accordance with your agreement with them.
Uploading
How do I upload my submissions? What format should my files be in? Are there size limits?
To upload a submission 1) Go to My Launchpad 2) Choose a Project that you have started and 3) click on Create Video. Here is a list of acceptable file formats and codecs. We ask that you keep files under 100 MB. Any special rules can be found in the RFB’s creative brief.
Who uploads for Team submissions?
The Person who created the Team uploads the submission.
Submissions
Can I submit more than one entry per contest?
Absolutely. But you must create a new Launch Team, or name your project by clicking on Launch It, before uploading any submission.
Can I participate in more than one contest at once?
Yes, and we encourage you to do so.
How can I share a great sitcom pilot, music video, or other creative genius that has nothing to do with your current Creative Assignments?
The Creative Corner is your place to upload videos that don't meet the needs of our Current Assignments, but that you want to share with the GeniusRocket Creative Community.
We'll begin to request specific non-client creative submissions via the Creative Corner once we launch The Rocket Awards in October. Stay tuned!
Why was my entry removed?
Your entry may have violated the Terms of Service. For additional questions, please contact us at Support@GeniusRocket.com.
Do you guys provide any resources to help me make great content?
Visit the Toolbox for links to resources and tools that can help you improve your creative content.
Review Process
Can I vote more than once?
No. Although you can change your vote, each member can only vote once on a piece of content.
Is there a screening process? How long does it take?
The advertiser has the option of either allowing submissions to be posted immediately or to pre-screen and post the eligible submissions. Usually, screened submissions will appear on the site within 24 hours.
Sharing
Can I post my content on other websites?
If you own the content, you can post it on other websites. Please be aware you that some video networking sites assert copyright ownership over anything you upload. We encourage our creators to be diligent about protecting their creative works.
Compensation
How can I make money?
As a member of the GeniusRocket community, you can earn money by:
1) Respond to an RFB: Companies seeking advertisements from our creators submit Requests For Brilliance (RFBs) detailing the length and type of ad sought -- and the dibs on how many ads will be chosen for cash awards. Some companies may offer money to their #1 choice, while others may choose to spread the award money among multiple entries. Click here to see the current RFBs.
2) Win a Rocket Award: Every month (beginning in October), we give away a total of about $15,000 in prizes for Rocket Awards in various categories -- from “Best Acting” and “Funniest Submission” to “Best Sitcom Pilot,” or even “Best Music Video.”
The GeniusRocket community helps choose the Rocket Award winners.
How much money can I make?
That depends on the Creative Assignment. Find one that interests you.
How do get I paid? How does money get split up in a group project?
When a submission is selected for financial compensation, the person who uploaded the submission is paid via check. It is that person’s responsibility to honor any contractual agreements made with collaborators.
